Gov. Idris Clears APC Screening for Second-Term Bid

Governor of Kebbi State, Nasir Idris, has successfully passed the gubernatorial screening conducted by the national leadership of the All Progressives Congress (APC), ahead of the 2027 general elections.

 

A statement signed by Ahmed Idris, Chief Press Secretary to the Kebbi State Governor, said the screening exercise was held on Friday at the Plateau State Liaison Office in Abuja and was conducted by a committee headed by the APC National Chairman, Professor Nentawe Yilwatda.

 

Speaking after the exercise, Prof. Yilwatda congratulated Governor Idris for successfully meeting the party’s requirements and legal provisions necessary to contest for a second term in office.

 

“Having met the requirement of the party and the provisions of the law, you have been successfully screened and qualified to contest for second term in office,” he stated.

 

The APC National Chairman explained that the screening committee for sitting governors seeking re-election or aspiring for Senate seats is chaired by himself, while the APC National Secretary, Surajudeen Ajibola Basiru, serves as secretary of the committee alongside members of the National Working Committee (NWC).

 

Responding, Governor Idris expressed appreciation to the APC national leadership for giving him the opportunity to emerge as the party’s flag bearer for the forthcoming 2027 governorship election in Kebbi State.

 

He also thanked the people of Kebbi State for their continued support and confidence in his administration, assuring them that his second term would consolidate ongoing developmental projects across critical sectors of the economy.

 

The governor pledged to sustain and expand the achievements of his administration for the benefit of the people of Kebbi State and the country at large.

 

Governor Idris was accompanied to the screening venue by top party leaders and government officials, including former Governor Saidu Usman Dakingari, Acting Speaker of the Kebbi State House of Assembly, Samaila Muhammad Bagudo, Secretary to the State Government, Yakubu Bala Tafida, members of the National and State Assemblies, members of the State Executive Council, and other APC stakeholders.
