Governor Idris Commends Army Chief over Additional Troops to Kebbi

by Imran Musa

Kebbi State Governor, Comrade Nasir Idris, has commended the Chief of Army Staff for deploying additional troops to Yauri to strengthen security operations against banditry in parts of the state.

The Governor gave the commendation during an inspection visit to the troops, where he described the reinforcement as timely and strategic in supporting ongoing efforts to restore peace in Yauri, Shanga, Ngaski and neighbouring communities.

Governor Idris said the Yauri axis remains one of the state’s major security flashpoints because of its proximity to Niger and Zamfara States, while Fakai Local Government Area shares a boundary with Sokoto State. He added that Kebbi’s international border with the Republic of Benin also presents additional security challenges.

He assured the troops of the state government’s continued support, stressing that security requires close collaboration between the Federal and State Governments.

The Governor urged the soldiers to intensify operations against bandits and other criminal elements, expressing confidence in the professionalism and operational capacity of the Nigerian Army to restore lasting peace to the affected communities.

Governor Idris also expressed optimism that improved security would enable displaced farmers to return safely to their farmlands and allow residents to go about their lawful activities without fear.

The Governor thanked the officers and men for their service to the nation and prayed for the success and safety of the troops throughout the operation.
