The Kebbi State House of Assembly has commenced a public hearing on the State and Local Governments Contributory Pension Amendment Bill 2025.
The Bill, presented by the Executive, seeks to amend certain sections of the existing law to better serve the interests of state and local government civil servants.
At the public hearing, the committee, chaired by Abubakar Sani Lolo, engaged with stakeholders including the State Contributory Pension Board led by its Executive Chairman, Hassan Muhammad Shallah, the Nigeria Labour Congress, the Nigerian Medical and Health Workers Union, and others.
After deliberations, labour representatives and other stakeholders requested more time to carefully study the bill before making recommendations.
The committee granted the request, with discussions scheduled to resume on Thursday, the 11th of September.
The House says the process is aimed at ensuring fairness, transparency, and broad stakeholder input before the bill is passed.
