NDLEA Boss Urges Parents, Schools to Acquire Drug Testing Kits

The Chairman of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA, retired Brigadier-General Buba Marwa, has urged parents and schools to acquire drug testing kits to help detect and curb early exposure to substance abuse among children.

Speaking at the opening of the Defence and Police Officers’ Wives Association, DEPOWA, Inter-Secondary Schools Sports Competition 2025 in Abuja, Marwa warned that drug abuse was robbing Nigerian youths of ambition, hope, and a bright future.

He advised parents to pay closer attention to their children and never ignore warning signs, stressing that it is better to catch drug use early than wait until it becomes an addiction.

Commending DEPOWA for using sports as a tool to prevent substance abuse, Marwa urged schools without drug-free clubs to establish them, assuring that NDLEA was ready to provide support nationwide.

The NDLEA boss encouraged students to embrace sports as a healthy outlet, saying that “saying no to drugs is saying yes to your future.”
