The Sultan of Sokoto and President-General of the Nigerian Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs (NSCIA), Alhaji Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar, has declared Monday, 25th August, 2025, as the first day of Rabi’ul Awwal 1447AH.
This followed the non-sighting of the new crescent of Rabi’ul Awwal on Saturday, 23rd August, 2025, across the country.
A statement signed by Prof. Sambo Wali Junaidu, Chairman of the Sultanate Council Advisory Committee on Religious Affairs, explained that the National Moonsighting Committee did not receive any report of sighting from various committees nationwide.
Consequently, Sunday, 24th August, 2025, will mark the 30th day of Safar 1447AH.
The Sultan urged Muslims to use the new Islamic month to intensify prayers for peace, unity, and progress of the country.
