The Kebbi State House of Assembly has passed the Revised 2025 Appropriation Bill of over 580 billion naira, submitted by Governor Nasir Idris.
The passage followed the adoption of the report of the Joint House Committees on Finance and Appropriation, and Budget Monitoring, Economic Planning, and Due Process, during plenary presided over by the Speaker, Rt. Hon. Mohammed Usman Zuru.
Presenting the report, Chairman of the House Committee on Finance and Appropriation, Hon. Adamu Muhammad Birnin Yauri, explained that the Assembly revised the budget and sourced 43 billion naira, which was reallocated to ministries and departments in urgent need of funds.
He said about six to seven ministries would benefit from the additional allocation, with the Ministry of Health receiving 26 billion naira to fund the renovation of general hospitals and 40 primary healthcare centres across the state.
Meanwhile, the House also adopted a motion for the renaming of Government Secondary School Tondi Tsamiya to Sarki Muhammad Zayyanu Abdullahi Day Secondary School, Tondi Tsamiya.
The Assembly further resolved that the state government should write a letter of appreciation to Mainstream Foundation for constructing a full-fledged structure for Government Day Secondary School, Tondi, after its original site was allocated to the Federal College of Education, Technical, Yelwa.
Speaking to newsmen, the mover of the motion, Hon. Hashimu Usman Hinanbiro, said the renaming was to honour the Emir of Yauri, Dr. Zayyanu Abdullahi, for his contributions to the development of the area.
