INEC: Over 6.2 Million Nigerians Complete Online Voter Pre-Registration in Week Six

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) says more than 6.2 million Nigerians have completed their online pre-registration for the Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise.

The data, published on INEC’s official website and X handle, covered the week of September 22–28, 2025. A total of 6,232,673 pre-registrants were recorded.

According to the figures, women constituted the majority with 3,250,338 entries (52.15%), while men accounted for 2,982,335 (47.85%). Young people between the ages of 18 and 34 dominated participation, making up over 4.2 million of the registrants. Students contributed more than 1.5 million entries, while 137,865 persons with disabilities also signed up.

Borno State topped the registration list with 682,805 entries, followed by Osun with 599,363 and Lagos with 555,442. Other high-performing states included Kebbi (472,662), Ogun (450,897), Kaduna (376,054), and Kogi (298,194).

At the lower end, Enugu posted the smallest figure with just 5,092 pre-registrants, followed by Abia (5,225), Ebonyi (6,935), Edo (10,278), and Ondo (14,388).

INEC also disclosed that 1,004,132 Nigerians completed both online and physical registrations in Week Five (September 22–26). Of this number, 537,743 finalised their registration online while 466,389 completed it at physical centres.

The commission noted a surge of participation from northern states, particularly Borno and Kebbi, attributing the increase to renewed mobilisation efforts by community-based groups, religious leaders, and local officials.
