Tinubu to Visit Kebbi for Argungu Festival as PDP Defectors Join APC

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is set to visit Kebbi State this week to attend the Argungu International Fishing and Cultural Festival.

Governor Nasir Idris disclosed this at the Government House in Birnin Kebbi while receiving hundreds of defectors from Jega Local Government Area, led by Alhaji Aliyu Abdullahi Mai Ashana Jega, who defected from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC).

According to the Governor, the President will also use the occasion to commission several projects executed by the Kauran Gwandu administration in the state.

Governor Idris called on APC members and supporters to turn out in large numbers to welcome President Tinubu to Kebbi State.

He thanked God for guiding the defectors to join the APC and assured them of equal and fair treatment alongside existing party members.

The Governor also appreciated Alhaji Aliyu Abdullahi Mai Ashana Jega for commending his administration’s performance and promised that more developmental projects would be executed across the state.

Speaking on behalf of the defectors, Alhaji Aliyu Abdullahi Mai Ashana Jega said he and his supporters joined the ruling party unconditionally due to the visible developmental projects of the Nasir Idris administration, particularly in Jega Local Government Area.

He also praised the Governor for securing all the hajj slots allocated to Kebbi State, making it the state with the highest number of pilgrims in the country.

He assured the Governor and party leadership of their total loyalty to the APC and their commitment to the party’s success at both state and national levels.

In his remarks, the Kebbi State Chairman of the APC, Alhaji Abubakar Kana Zuru, welcomed the new members and directed party leaders in Jega to fully integrate them into all party activities.

Addressing journalists after the event, an APC stalwart from Jega, Barrister Shehu Marshall, described Alhaji Aliyu Abdullahi Mai Ashana Jega as a respected political figure and icon in Kebbi State and Nigeria.

He expressed confidence that with the calibre of leaders joining the party and the growing wave of defections, the APC’s chances of victory in the 2027 general elections are assured.

A Director at Firdaus Transport and Services, Alhaji Murtala Samaila Mai Sallah Jega expressed delight with the warm reception accorded them by Governor Nasir Idris and the APC, assuring of their support and cooperation towards the progress of Kebbi state and Nigeria as a whole.
