24 states to benefit from AfDB’s backing on agric expansion

Nigeria is set to expand its Special Agro-Industrial Processing Zones to 24 states, following renewed support from the African Development Bank.

Vice President Kashim Shettima secured the commitment during a meeting with AfDB President Sidi Ould Tah at the UN General Assembly in New York.

Shettima highlighted Nigeria’s vast agricultural potential and called for more investment in innovation and tech-driven enterprises, noting Nigeria’s leadership in Africa’s digital space.

The VP also urged support for housing, environmental projects, and the Great Green Wall initiative. Meanwhile, the AfDB President pledged to help mobilize global capital to drive Africa’s industrial growth.

On the sidelines, Shettima met with the Prime Minister of St. Kitts and Nevis to strengthen Africa-Caribbean ties.
