The award was presented at the closing ceremony of the Media and Security Summit jointly organised by the forum and the Kebbi State Government on Tuesday.

Governor Idris, who was represented by the Speaker of the Kebbi State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Muhammad Usman Zuru, was described as a leader committed to strengthening the media landscape and promoting press freedom in Kebbi State.

The Chairman, Board of Trustees (BoT) of the forum, Alhaji Abdullahi Yelwa, Ajiyan Yauri, said the award was reserved for outstanding Northern Governors who have demonstrated excellence in leadership and unwavering support for the media.

He praised Governor Idris for his consistent encouragement to journalists and for setting the pace for media excellence not only in Kebbi but across the country.
